Grant opportunity for Minnesota artists

Grants to assist Minnesota emerging artists with disabilities in creating new work are available from VSA Minnesota.

With funding from the Jerome Foundation, seven grants of $1500 each will be awarded to writers, performers, visual or multi-media artists through a competitive grant application process. November 8, 2013, is the deadline. Applications and guidelines are available at www.vsamn.org or can be requested in several formats at 612-332-3888, 800-801-3883, oremerginggrant@vsamn.org.

The Jerome Foundation and VSA Minnesota have been offering these annual grants since 1996. VSA Minnesota is a statewide, nonprofit organization whose mission is to create a community where people with disabilities can learn through, participate in and access the arts. The Jerome Foundation seeks to contribute to a dynamic and evolving culture by supporting the creation, development and production of new works by emerging artists.

ADA Legal Webinar Series Sept 18th – Litigation Landscape Five Years after the Passage of the ADA Amendments Act

The ADA National Network reminds you that the ADA Legal Webinar Series session this week will address “Litigation Landscape Five Years after the Passage of the ADA Amendments Act”.   The session is scheduled for Wednesday September 18, 2013 at 2:00PM ET.
The ADA Amendments Act was passed in September 2008, and after five years, we are seeing how it is changing the way courts interpret the ADA. This session will review cases interpreting the definition of disability under the ADA Amendments Act and the relevant regulations that have been issued. There will also be a discussion of emerging ADA legal issues in the wake of fewer cases being dismissed for failing to meet the definition of disability.
When:   September 18, 2013
Time:      2: 00pm-3:30pm Eastern Time
Speakers:  Barry Taylor, Vice President of Civil Rights and Systemic Litigation and Rachael Weisberg, Attorney, Equip for Equality
Questions regarding this session can be directed to webinars@ada-audio.org or by phone at 877-232-1990 (V/TTY)
