For over 39 years, MCIL has brought comprehensive services and a compassionate, dedicated staff determined to assist members of the disability community in realizing their goals for independent living. With a committed Board of Directors, leadership, and staff, MCIL focuses on adding value to each person who receives our services.
In 2019, MCIL helped nearly 7,200 individuals advance their independent living goals and aspirations through direct services. Additionally, Disability Hub MN provided information and referral to over 20,000 individuals.
As a statutory nonprofit organization based in St. Paul, Minnesota, MCIL is guided by the Centers for Independent Living Rules and Regulation of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (Act 45 CFR Part 129 November 298, 2016, and Minnesota State Statute (268A.11) which formally recognizes the Independent Living movement. MCIL is one of 403 Centers for Independent Living nationwide. We serve the Twin Cities seven-county metro area and are the largest of the eight Centers for Independent Living in Minnesota. MCIL is a member of the Minnesota Association of Centers for Independent Living, a statewide network of independent living service organizations advocating on behalf of Minnesotans with disabilities. Additionally, our organization is guided by the Minnesota State Independent Living Council, which serves as a conduit between federal and state governments with all Minnesota Centers for Independent Living.
